Lovely Illustrator

Some more images to make my blog look prettier than it really is, yay!
I came across Susan Burghart's work a few years ago in the Computer Arts Grad Showcase and been a huge fan ever since. Her illustrations are so incredibly beautiful and romantic. From photomontages to purely graphical pieces she has a real range to her talents while still maintaining a recognisable style. I love seeing art used commercially and in the mainstream (the likes of Marie Claire, Microsoft) so it's nice and available to everyone! More of it please Susan : )

Ink Anarchy

I've just come across Ink Anarchy which is a collection of digital art produced "for the people by the people". It's a collection of art from artists all over the world and it's very affordably priced (launch prices are as low as £35). The pieces of work are contemporary yet not pretentious and have been created by some seriously talented artists. Oh and the exhibition takes place in a bar because it's Shoreditch.

Juno Intro Animation (And the rest..)

So I'm fresh from watching my favorite film of the year so far (granted it's only February and the only other film I've seen so far is Stuck On You but it's still damn good!). I was loving the soundtrack that was dominated by Moldy Peaches/Kimya Dawson and I'm a sucker for child-like, photomontage animations like the one used for the intro sequence. Marvelous!

Shoreditch Bar Art

As much as wanted to leave London this weekend and enjoy the sunshine somewhere far far away from the nearest Starbucks or tourist I remained in Shoreditch. Not only that but I spent most of the time indoors, well, in bars.
This did have it's benefits and not all were alcohol related. Casa Blue on Brick Lane has two great assets in my eyes. It's fantastic strawberry mojitos being one and this beautiful art by Pigment Explosion being the other. It appears in little tiles all over the place like a little adventure taking place all over the walls. It's quite magical and I felt slightly similar to the work of Jakub Dvorsky and his Samarost games.

More treats were instore when we headed to the Juno bar where I enjoyed Caipirinha's and gasped in horror when the Space Invader game that was disguised as a table (really) swallowed my 50p. Then I realised I was surrounded by yet more art! This time in the form of graffiti - the results of the graffiti competitions Juno holds.
This little beauty was my fave...
